Children's Privacy Notice
DearHim, Inc. Last Updated: 5/8/26
DearHim Is for Adults Only
DearHim, DearHer, and DearUs (collectively, the "Service") are restricted to users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect, use, or share personal information from anyone under 18.
If you are under 18, please do not use the Service. There are wonderful resources designed for younger people; this is not one of them.
How We Try to Keep Minors Off the Service
- Age verification at signup. We require users to confirm they are 18+ before creating an account. While we cannot verify age with absolute certainty, false age representations are a violation of our Terms of Service.
- Content restrictions. Our AI characters are programmed to refuse roleplay or content that suggests they or the user is a minor.
- Detection. If our systems detect signals suggesting a user may be under 18 (e.g., conversational content suggesting school enrollment, references to a parent restricting access, etc.), we may suspend the account pending verification.
- Reporting. We act promptly on credible reports that a user is under 18.
What Happens If We Find a Minor on the Service
If we learn or have reason to believe a user is under 18:
- We immediately suspend the account.
- We delete the account and all associated personal information (conversation history, profile data, behavioral data) within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., to demonstrate compliance with our minor-removal policies).
- We refund any unused subscription period in full.
- We notify the user (and, if a parent or guardian has reported the account, the parent/guardian) of the action taken.
For Parents and Guardians
If you believe your child has used the Service or has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@dearhim.ai with the subject line "Minor Account — Removal Request."
Please include:
- The account email address (if known).
- The child's first name and approximate age.
- Your relationship to the child.
- Any details about how you discovered the account.
We will respond within 5 business days. We may ask for verification of your relationship to the child to prevent abuse of this process.
You do not need to know the account password. If you can identify the account by email, phone number, or other identifying information, we can locate it.
What If My Child's Information Has Been Shared With Other Users (DearUs)?
If a minor has used DearUs and their profile or messages have been seen by other DearUs members:
- We immediately remove the profile and any associated content.
- We notify the matched users that the account has been removed (without identifying it as a minor account, to protect the minor's identity).
- We instruct matched users to delete any saved content (photos, messages) and confirm in writing that they have done so. If they refuse or fail to comply, we may pursue legal remedies.
- We will work with you on any additional steps appropriate to your child's specific situation.
Our Practices Regarding Minor Data
- We do not knowingly collect data from minors. Our intake forms ask for date of birth, and we reject signups from anyone whose stated date of birth indicates they are under 18.
- We do not market to minors. Our advertising is targeted to audiences 18+.
- We do not allow AI characters to generate sexual content involving minors under any circumstance, even in roleplay or fictional scenarios. This is an absolute and non-negotiable rule.
- We report instances of suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by federal law (18 USC §2258A).
COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) primarily regulates services directed to children under 13. Our Service is not directed to children under 13 (or any minors), and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe COPPA has been violated by us, please contact privacy@dearhim.ai or the FTC at ftc.gov/coppa.
