We Do Not Sell or Share Your Personal Information for Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising

DearHim, Inc. does not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising (also known as "targeted advertising" across non-affiliated services).

This is true regardless of where you live, regardless of whether you have an account, and regardless of whether you've made any specific request.

What "Sell" and "Share" Mean

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • "Sell" means selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.
  • "Share" means making personal information available to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising — i.e., advertising to a consumer based on their personal information obtained from the consumer's activity across businesses, distinctly-branded websites, applications, or services other than the business with which the consumer intentionally interacts.

We do neither.

What We Do Do With Your Data

We use your personal information to provide the Service to you and to improve our AI models. The full description is in our Privacy Policy. In short:

  • We use your conversation data to generate AI responses.
  • We use your behavioral data to personalize your experience and (if you opt into DearUs) suggest matches.
  • We use limited usage data with our analytics provider to understand how the Service is used.
  • We use Stripe to process your payments.
  • We display ads to you on our marketing channels (Meta, TikTok), but we do not transfer your conversation data, profile data, or other sensitive information to those advertising platforms.

Your Privacy Choices

Even though we don't sell or share for behavioral advertising, you may exercise these rights at any time:

1. Opt Out of Marketing Emails

  • Click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email.
  • Or set your preferences in Account Settings → Notifications.

2. Opt Out of SMS Messages

  • Reply STOP to any SMS.
  • Or disable "Text Me" in Account Settings → SMS Preferences.

3. Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information

  • Email privacy@dearhim.ai with subject "Limit Sensitive PII" to direct us to limit use of your sensitive personal information (e.g., conversation contents, sexual orientation, biometric data, government identifiers) to providing the Service.
  • Note: This may limit your DearUs experience, since DearUs depends on inferred behavioral data.

4. Opt Out of Cross-Product Data Use

  • Email privacy@dearhim.ai with subject "Cross-Product Opt-Out" to direct us to keep data from one product (DearHim, DearHer, DearUs) separate from another.
  • Note: Opting out will limit DearUs functionality if you ever opt in.

5. Request to Know What Information We Have

  • Email privacy@dearhim.ai with subject "Right to Know Request".
  • We respond within 45 days. We may verify your identity before responding.

6. Request Deletion of Your Information

  • Delete your account directly through Account Settings → Delete Account.
  • Or email privacy@dearhim.ai with subject "Data Deletion Request".
  • Deletion is completed within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements.

7. Request Correction of Inaccurate Information

  • Update your profile directly through Account Settings.
  • Or email privacy@dearhim.ai with subject "Correction Request".

8. Request a Portable Copy of Your Data

  • Email privacy@dearhim.ai with subject "Data Export Request".
  • We provide an export of your account data in JSON or CSV format within 45 days.

9. Right to Non-Discrimination

  • We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of the rights above. You will not lose access to features or pay a higher price because you opt out.

10. Honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) Signals

  • We honor GPC browser signals as a valid opt-out request for the sale or sharing of personal information (which we don't do anyway), and as a request to limit non-essential analytics/advertising cookies.

Authorized Agents (California Residents)

You may designate an authorized agent to make a privacy request on your behalf. The agent must provide:

  1. Written permission from you authorizing them to make the request.
  2. Verification of the agent's identity.
  3. Verification of your identity (we may contact you directly to confirm).

Verification of Requests

Before we process most requests, we will verify your identity. We will ask you to:

  1. Confirm your account email address.
  2. Confirm a second piece of information from your account (e.g., last 4 digits of card on file, account creation date).
  3. For sensitive requests (deletion, full data export), respond from the email address on file.

This verification protects you. We won't process a deletion or export request from someone who can't prove they are you.

Other US States

If you reside in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have similar rights to access, correct, delete, port, opt out of targeted advertising, and opt out of significant automated decision-making. Use the same email addresses above.

For Nevada residents specifically, you may opt out of the sale of certain personal information. We do not sell under Nevada law either.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you reside in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, the GDPR provides you with similar and additional rights, described in detail in our Privacy Policy — Section 9.3.
