Refund Policy

This Refund Policy describes when and how DearHim, Inc. provides refunds for subscriptions and purchases on our Service. It supplements our Terms of Service.
TL;DR
- Most subscription fees are non-refundable.
- DearUs subscriptions in California, New York, Illinois, and other states with Dating Service Contract Acts can be cancelled within 3 business days for a full refund.
- App Store / Google Play purchases must be refunded by Apple or Google directly, not us.
- We will always refund where required by law or where we made a clear billing error.
1. Standard Refund Policy
All subscription fees, one-time purchases, and credits on the Service are non-refundable, except:
- Where required by applicable law (including state-specific dating service laws — see Section 3 below).
- Where DearHim has made a billing error.
- Where DearHim has terminated your account without cause (e.g., service discontinuation).
- Where DearHim has made a material change to the Service that significantly reduces functionality without notice.
- Where you exercise a Free Trial cancellation before conversion.
- Where we have offered a specific refund as a goodwill gesture.
2. Free Trials
If you signed up for a free trial:
- You will not be charged during the trial period.
- We will email you 3 days before your trial ends, reminding you of the upcoming charge.
- If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.
- If you do not cancel, your trial automatically converts to a paid subscription on the trial end date.
To cancel before trial conversion: Account Settings → Subscription → Cancel, or email support@dearhim.ai with subject "Cancel Free Trial."
3. DearUs Three-Day Cooling-Off Right
If you reside in California, New York, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, Wisconsin, or another state with a Dating Service Contract Act, you may cancel any DearUs subscription, without penalty, within three (3) business days after the date you signed up.
To exercise this right:
- Send written notice (email is acceptable) to legal@dearhim.ai with subject "DearUs Cancellation".
- Include your name, account email, and a clear statement that you are cancelling.
- We will refund the full amount within 10 business days.
4. Cancellation Upon Death, Disability, or Relocation (DearUs)
Per California Civil Code §1694 et seq. and similar state laws:
- Death of subscriber: A subscriber's representative may cancel a DearUs subscription upon the subscriber's death and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion. Submit a copy of the death certificate to legal@dearhim.ai.
- Disability: A subscriber who becomes physically or mentally disabled to the extent they cannot use the Service may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund. We may request reasonable documentation.
- Relocation: A subscriber who relocates more than 50 miles from their registered location, where DearUs cannot effectively provide matches in the new location, may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund.
5. Cancellation by You (Standard)
You may cancel any subscription at any time:
- Through Account Settings → Subscription → Cancel.
- Or by emailing support@dearhim.ai with subject "Cancel Subscription".
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have paid access until then. We do not refund the unused portion of the current period unless required by law (Section 3 or 4 above).
6. Termination by Us
If we terminate your account:
- Without cause (e.g., we discontinue the Service): we refund the unused portion of any prepaid subscription.
- For cause (e.g., you violated our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines): no refund is provided, except as required by law.
7. Billing Errors
If you believe you were charged in error:
- Contact support@dearhim.ai within 14 days of the charge.
- Include the charge amount, date, and your account email.
- We respond within 5 business days. If our records confirm an error, we refund within 10 business days.
8. App Store and Google Play Purchases
If you purchased a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, your purchase is governed by Apple's or Google's policies, not ours. We do not have the ability to refund purchases made through these platforms directly.
To request a refund:
- Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Google Play: play.google.com/store/account → Order History → Refund
If you cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription, follow Apple's or Google's cancellation process — cancelling our subscription through our website will not stop App Store / Google Play billing.
9. Concierge Services (DearUs)
DearUs Concierge introduction packages are subject to the same 3-business-day cooling-off period (Section 3) if you reside in a state with a Dating Service Contract Act.
After the 3-business-day window, Concierge purchases are non-refundable. However:
- If we have not delivered any introductions yet, we will work with you in good faith to find a resolution.
- If we have delivered some but not all introductions, a partial refund may be provided at our discretion.
10. Chargebacks
If you initiate a credit card chargeback for a charge that you believe was authorized and not in error:
- We may suspend your account during the dispute resolution period.
- If the chargeback is found to be valid, we will refund the disputed amount.
- If the chargeback is found to be invalid (i.e., the charge was authorized and proper), we may permanently terminate your account and may pursue collection of the disputed amount.
We strongly prefer you contact us directly at support@dearhim.ai before initiating a chargeback. Most disputes can be resolved more quickly that way.
11. How to Request a Refund
For all refund requests:
- Email support@dearhim.ai with the appropriate subject line:
- "Cancel Subscription" — standard cancellation
- "DearUs Cancellation" — within 3-day cooling-off period
- "Billing Error" — disputed charge
- "Death/Disability Cancellation" — DearUs special circumstances
- "Refund Request — [Reason]" — other
- Include your account email, the charge details, and the basis for your refund request.
- We respond within 5 business days for standard requests; within 10 business days for refunds requiring deeper investigation.
If your request is approved, refunds are processed via the original payment method and typically appear within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank.
12. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the Service.
